About Us

Foreword

We are pleased to present the 2011 edition of the Career Compass, a career guide for students by the Ministry of Manpower.

The Career Compass aims to help students gain a better understanding of job and training opportunities so as to make informed decisions on their choice of study and career. Since its launch in 2008, the Career Compass has steadily expanded its outreach. Today, the website attracts an average of 24,000 hits daily, five times the average daily hit rate in 2009.

As we head into 2011, the outlook for the Singapore labour market is optimistic. In particular, hiring is expected to remain robust in chemicals, biomedical sciences, tourism, finance and healthcare. The Career Compass 2011 provides updated labour market information about these growing industries including outlook, career progression pathways, employment prospects and wages. It also provides links to government training assistance programmes to help students better prepare for their choice careers.

We encourage students to make use of the Career Compass when making critical career choices. We hope that you will find the Career Compass useful, and wish you every success in your career endeavors.
